Denis O’Brien - Product Development Advisor

Denis is a tutor in the Open University Business School and External Examiner on two UK MA Design Studies and Entrepreneur Courses. In the past he has helped conceive the British Computer Society Human Computer Interaction Group in the 80’s and was the Chair of their first International Conference in 1985. Denis has been part of the think tank behind Urbytus and OCM since day 1 with Ali.
Denis is a keen advocate of On-line Community Management (OCM). He is Vice President of El Porton de Mijas: a community in the Costa del Sol where Ali is the President. OCM was born because of their frustration at old fashioned ways of doing things. Denis is an Ergonomist so wants things to be easy, understandable … but, above all … useful. OCM is useful: useful to the committee and administrator: useful to the active owners and useful to renters. Denis would love OCM to be extended for all types of communities: gardening clubs, Parent Teacher Associations, vintage car owners groups, class room cohorts … why? … because active people are time poor and idea rich and OCM gets your views and ideas out there … in writing … for the consideration of all … independent of silly power games or old fashioned influence. All communities are hard to manage but OCM makes it just that little bit more satisfying.
